Blog of the Week - August 13, 2006

This week’s Blog of the Week is MakingOurWay. The blog is written by an executive in his late thirties who is married and has young children. His blog details the financial decisions that he and his wife face in preparing for retirement and raising a family. The fact that he is an anonymous blogger allows him the ability to be honest about his finances. I remember a while back he posted his family budget and asked for input. He got it!

The fascinating thing about personal finance blogging is that there are bloggers from all walks of life. MakingOurWay is established financially. His family has a net worth of over $500,000. So, what’s important to him may not be important to someone in their 20s who has a net worth of -$50,000! However, it is still good for the 20-something to read blogs like MakingOurWay to get some inspiration and to realize that within the next decade, they too could have a net worth of over $500,000 (if they make the right choices).
